Prepare, Develop and Fine Tune

Get season ready with NZ Rep, Alex Lukin at a special session on Wednesday 17 April 5pm - 7.30pm

Designed to help prepare you for the secondary hockey season.  All those considering U16 or U18 representative hockey should also register.   The programme is focused on supporting athletes in preparation for the upcoming season and representative pathways. With an opportunity to play in a home tri series.

Developed and delivered by NZ representative player Alex Lukin   Venue: Thames Valley Hockey Association Turf, Ngatea.  $25 further sessions available after Anzac weekend.

Thames Valley Hockey runs a Secondary competition during the winter sport season.   All games at Ngatea and during the week.


We have teams from around the district playing on Tuesday nights. Are schools are:

Waihi College


Players can qualify for selection for Thames Valley Hockey representative teams by being part of the Valley competition.

Thames Valley Hockey Development Programmes

Our Development officer is available to help with player engagement, development, advice and training and is available for in school visits, centrally run turf training and holiday programmes.

Notes for team managers 2024:  

The 2024 season will commence in Term 2 - Tuesday 7 May 2024 with 6 aside, schools may enter as many teams as they wish.  In Term 3, 11 aside will commmence. With a provision for teams wishing to continue the 6 aside competition as an option. Indication of team numbers to be emailed to secretary@valleyhockey.org.nz.  Player names are not required at this point.

Schools are to provide Umpires.  Umpires are to complete the Online Results form and the written scorecard and return to the pigeonhole after each game.  If no online result -  scores will be recorded as a nil all draw.  Online Results Form Here
